Hi, I'm Mehru Anand, the founder of doodling_nyc. Welcome to my blog! Here, I promise to be honest and authentic in everything I write. No fluff, just genuine thoughts and insights, as that's what I stand for!

I took a break from my corporate career at the end of March 2023 to recoup and rejuvenate. I traveled a little and started incorporating some wellness practices into my routine. I had always known I wanted to do “something” with the doodles. I knew I had to share them with a wider audience, but I didn’t yet understand the “Why” behind it. All I knew was that they sparked something within me.

My initial attempts at creating products didn’t work out, leading to periods of uncertainty, reflection and disappointment. The first product we launched was cotton tote bags featuring five doodle prints. It was around Halloween, and I was meditating when two doodles came to mind that were perfect for the occasion. However, I didn’t have enough time to test the market or build credibility. I still remember handing out the bags and business cards, which had arrived just a day before Halloween, to people in my apartment building celebrating Halloween in the promenade. It was one of the most uncomfortable things I had done in years!

The “why” behind the doodles became clear during a therapy session. I told my therapist, “These are imperfect hand-drawn doodles, but they spark so much joy. I want to do this as a reminder to myself and everyone that it’s okay to be imperfect. Perfection sucks the joy out of life.” My therapist encouraged me to share this insight, and that’s when I first posted on social media about the “why”  This revelation also gave birth to our motto, “being proudly imperfect.” It serves as a reminder to everyone in the doodling_nyc family to have fun and stay inspired. Whether it’s a tote used for errands, your favorite coffee mug, or a phone accessory you carry everywhere, it will make you smile!

Come be a part of our imperfectly perfect family.
